TIMES SQUARE BALL DROP + POLICE BOX
New York, New York
Spring 2007 - 4th Year
Professor Duran

This project asked us to create a new tower for the New Year's Eve ball drop to be located in Times Square, as well as a new Police Box to replace the existing one. We utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) software for this project, working with realistic building materials and assembly systems in a new way. The concept for this project was the idea of leaning and pulling away from the old buildings. This also creates more sightlines for these structures to be seen from all angles of the surrounding roads and buildings. One requirement was to use some kind of signage, because Times Square is nothing but lights, ads, and signs. I incorporated this through the use of movable/rotatable electronic signs that could be moved on the tower itself to accomodate different types and sizes of advertisements/signs.
